Numerical investigation on three-phase flow in unsaturated soil considering porosity effects on soil hydraulic properties

Ground contamination by mineral oil and hydrocarbons is a serious problem worldwide. These non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) represents long-term sources to the soil, groundwater, ecological environment. In existing numerical simulation models utilized in most programs, relation between porosity hydraulic properties of unsaturated soils highly simplified as nonlinear. However, nonlinear effect on soil permeability capillary pressures cannot be well considered this way. study, new mathematical model has been developed incorporate effects into soils, including retention behaviour function NAPL water. This implemented MATLAB using finite difference method verified centrifuge test about infiltration. Then, series parametric studies will carried out investigate multi-phase flow under continuously leaking source. The influence magnitude distribution investigated. Special attention paid consolidation flow, which often ignored simulations constant values.
